Elaine Clark Johnson

Born in Scottsbluff Nebraska, the daughter and eldest of three children of E.M. Clark and his wife Estella, Elaine Clark Johnson has lived and worked around the world.

Her lifelong music career began at the early age of three, singing gospel songs on live radio. Later she was joined by her two younger brothers to form the Clark Family Trio.

While studying Music at Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri, she was a founding member of the vocal group, the MelaTones, becoming the first musical ensemble to tour representing Evangel. Later, she became a music instructor at Canyonville Christian Academy in Oregon, then joined the faculty of Southwestern Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie, Texas, where she also served as Chair of the Music Department. Elaine completed her Master of Music degree at the University of Missouri and later taught music at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois.  She continued her post graduate studies in music at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and Washington University in St. Louis. 

As an accomplished musician, she joined Jordan Kitts Music Company where she was a brand representative for Steinway, Yamaha, and Kimball, and subsequently, area sales representative for Allen Organ Company. One of her pleasures has been the opportunity to play and serve as music director or organist for a variety of Christian communities, including, Assemblies of God, Catholic, Baptist, Congregational Christian, Methodist, Greek Orthodox, and others.

 while living thShe also began creating digital recordings of hymn accompaniments for small, often new, Christian congregations who didn’t have musicians. Over the past 20 years, this has evolved into an international ministry called HymnServe.com. Churches, congregations and individuals from nations all over the world use Elaine’s accompaniments for their services and other gatherings.

Elaine met her husband Dan Johnson during their college days at Evangel University. Together they have held posts throughout the U.S. and abroad, ranging from Texas, Virginia, and Ohio to Alaska. Elaine and Dan have had the pleasure of traveling to many countries and lived for three years in Dubai where Dan led the campuses of Zayed University. They attended a vibrant Christian congregation of people from many countries while living there. 

In recent years, Elaine continues to be active in her church and community. She also tends the legacy of her parents, E.M. & Estella Clark, recently recording her father’s seminal book, How to be Happy Giving Your Money Away.
